Microchipping Your Pet for a Safe and Secure Return
Microchipping is a safe, reliable way to help bring your lost dog or cat back home. About the size of a grain of rice, the microchip is gently implanted under the loose skin at the back of your pet’s neck. If a pet without an ID tag is found, veterinarians or shelter staff can scan for the chip using a handheld device. The chip transmits a unique ID number through a low-frequency radio signal, allowing them to contact the microchip company, access your contact information, and quickly reunite you with your pet.
Why Microchipping Your Pet Is Key to Their Safety
Even the most careful pet owners can’t always prevent their pets from getting lost. A leash might snap, a pet could slip through an open door or window, or someone may accidentally leave a gate unlocked. These accidents happen quickly and unexpectedly.
That’s why we strongly recommend combining a microchip with a collar and ID tag for the best protection. While ID tags are valuable for quick identification, they can fall off or be removed, especially during grooming or play.
